Independence Day

This 4th of July, we celebrated with our good friends the Shirleys, & Taryn's sweet family the MacArthurs. We love that Taryn is from Houston and that they are here for the rest of the summer with her family. We have already taken advantage of having Taryn and Matt back in our lives for a little bit. We had so much fun at Taryn's house enjoying a nice swim and a delicious BBQ. We headed downtown for more festivities where Martina McBride and Sheryl Crow performed for us. "Independence Day" never sounded so good. The fireworks show was absolutely incredible! {Definitely up there for one of the best I've seen} It was so fun to celebrate this great country, in this new city of ours, that has so much patriotism! We are grateful for the many men and women in our lives, and around us who sacrifice for the freedoms we enjoy. We are proud to be Americans!

2013 Birthdays

This year we celebrated our birthdays in our new home. It was fun to talk to so many friends and family members and we just feel so lucky to have all of you. Kevin started work and I so badly wanted to show up on his second day of work with a huge cake and candles, but I refrained after Kevin asked me not to. Next year. We enjoyed going out for birthday dinners back to back and are excited to be 23 and 24! We're looking forward to all that this next year will bring! Thanks for all your kind words and birthday wishes! They meant so much!

Kevin spoiled me {as usual} with a little turquoise box! That man is the king of surprises. I don't know how he does it but I love it!

More birthday fun celebrating Kevin the next day!

Houston Residents

So we made it to Texas! It has been a crazy few weeks getting here, but we're getting settled and are happy to be here. We flew back into Salt Lake from Hawaii, loaded up our truck with the help of Kevin's wonderful cousins, and Bill and Kevin took off the next morning for the road trip to our new home. The guys had a great road trip out and Kevin experienced the best meal of his life at 3 Forks in Dallas. {I am so jealous!} I got to spend a few extra days with my family and had a lot of fun with my mom and Kelly shopping and enjoying the Parade of Homes {and I even got to see one of my very best friends, Ari!}. I met the guys in Houston on Wednesday and we moved right into our apartment! It was fun to have Bill here for a day, and we look forward to having him AND Gale back here in a few months! :) Thanks for all your help!

We spent our first few days buying new couches and a new car, so we have finally had time to explore this fun city we now call home. We've located all the good shopping and some yummy restaurants in the city, found the gulf that we are excited to be close to, and are enjoying all the fun things to do during this very warm summer!

Kevin is living our new motto, "time to get real" {haha} and started work a few weeks ago. He's loving the company and is getting adjusted to his busy working life. We're so grateful for all the help that has been given to us by our families and friends as we've made this big move, and we're looking forward to having you all out here!

First day of work picture {conveniently for me, from our bed :) }

One of the many NOV offices around town

Kevin got to go on a tour of some of NOV's sites where they assemble the rigs... Loving his hard hat!
